Consider adding a Shoot-out to the end of your tournament and giving anywhere from one to 100 golfers a shot at BIG money. Shoot-outs are stand-alone contests that can bring another layer of excitement and can be either a great capstone to your event or a bridge between golf and an evening activity (perhaps an auction or dinner).
Pick a few lucky golfers (choose the closest to the pin, your charity’s biggest donor, or someone special) to take the shot at a larger prize than you offered anywhere else in the tournament. Those milling around the clubhouse partaking in cocktail hour or getting ready for dinner will enjoy watching someone try for the hole in one of a lifetime.
Offer a $100,000 shootout prize for as low as $50 per golfer.
“Everything was picture perfect and although no one won the contest, it created a lot of buzz and added value to the event. Thanks for everything.”
Kenny Saunders, PGA
“We had a beautiful day and a lot of fun. Our shootout hole was a tough uphill par 3, but all four of our contestants hit solid tee shots and got up the hill… The rest of us where all out there watching and cheering.
Most of this group had never played in an event with a shootout. I think it was a successful introduction and hope they’ll consider doing more contests like this at other events.”
